You getting that error message (or something similar to it)?

I think Underhost finally disconnected the website. Which means all of the files are probably now gone. Which I don't believe any of us have backed up (aside from maybe Brown who we still can't get in contact with). Domain name expired, hopefully someone else doesn't grab it before we can!

Godaddy couldn't bill his credit card either it seems. Maybe this really is a billing issue and not a DMCA issue after all! Or maybe not. See the second update below after the jump.

On the plus side, CN just sent me the database from February 11th a couple of minutes ago!

Stay gold.

Update #1 on April 3rd, 2012 at 2:59AM EST: MN corrected my misconception about this being a problem with Underhost, it was actually caused by Godaddy's domain name expiring.

Update #2 on April 3rd, 2012 at 3:28PM EST: Everyone else says it isn't a DNS issue, so I'm not sure what to think anymore. Either way this warning is PROBABLY valid and you should PROBABLY adhere to it, assuming you aren't a billionaire and can afford the lawsuits (which if previous copyright infringement cases are any indication, you will lose):

PLEASE DO NOT USE THE SITE ANYMORE UNTIL I EXPLICITLY STATE SO FROM NOW ON, there is no way to tell WHO may grab the domain name (assuming it has expired) from us. You all could end up in jail, pay over nine billion dollars in fines and legal fees or get viruses (that may or may not steal your identity).

Well, a clean start is sometimes good. I'll help upload many many files when ODP goes back up.

  2. Holy crap!

    But let's face it Hurp!
When MEGAUPLOAD went down, more than 50% of the content became usless. Especially in the Premium member section, where most of it's files were MEGAUPLOAD.

So in hindsight this saved you mods alot of work.
Especially since there is nothing to Moderate as of yet.

    1. That's what happens when people don't follow the fucking rules.

Also, 80% of those topics were ALREADY dead before any of this even happened anyway.

    2. Alot of it, was early Automated posts by DP. Some of the content on there was posted by me and a few other moderators.

Not ALL of it was dead, and i kept personal backups of most of it.

    3. Some of those were dead since the day he put them there :3

I still have my personal backups also so they could still be available when we have a working site to us.

  4. Ok Hurp, for you know. This is a DNS Resolve Issue, this is at the DNS-Hosting end. I think this is due to "them" not being paid -_-'

    That is a issue...

    check youre email.

    1. ...So then it's Godaddy, not Underhost?

    2. If it was just the DNS then the server would still be reachable via IP, and it ain't I've tried.

      also, sup dudes

  5. The domain doesn't expire until September 20, I think it's just that the DNS record has been removed by underhost.

An ISP can change the DNS to google.co.uk if they want...
tbh most (like the ones I've worked for) will remove it due to non-payment at the drop of a hat so never take domain renewal to be the be all with this stuff :)

  6. Repo, I respectfully disagree with you there, from what I can tell, it's Underhost taking the site offline (not necessarily saying that the files are lost here). Here's why I think so: When you look up ODP, it's listed with a nameserver resolution by Underhost, under NS20, NS21, NS103, or NS104.

None of those NSes, however, resolve ODP; see: http://mydnscheck.com/index.php?op=diagnose&domain=ourdirtypleasure.com&ns1=ns20.underhost.cOm&ns2=ns104.underhost.com&ns3=ns21.underhost.cOm&ns4=&ns5=ns103.underhost.com&ns6=

Since the page "disappeared" around 31 days after the page was suspended, I'd put money on your first thought being right, that the website was disconnected due to nonpayment.

  7. >implying you can go to jail for visiting a url

I don't know what country you live in but that's virtually impossible if you live in the west and the page isn't filled with CP.

    1. What if some domme sets the site up to look exactly like the old site and then you start posting content and because how forums work your IP is logged for all of your posts?

Just having an IP shouldn't be enough to sue someone, but that hasn't stopped the MPAA from doing it already.

  8. mmmm....

we could ALL END UP IN JAIL if we click on the site.

Come on - get real guys. Who is going to sue us. A few hypnodommes that sell maybe a few mp3s.

How many people are in JAIL due to downloading the latest CD off the internet?

Trust me, in the eyes of bootleg material - ODP is not going to be investigated.

I notice 'THE RULES' are mentioned again..... grrrrr.....

    1. I guess you didn't notice the other subforums besides Hypnosis then.

    2. Not OP, but even then, there's no proof you actually downloaded anything, or even visited those sections.

    3. I guess you didn't see what I said earlier in another reply.

    4. I did see it.. even if they have your IP, know that you logged into the forum, etc. There's no proof that you actually downloaded anything. You're being super paranoid. Just because you've been to 4chan doesn't mean you know shit about computers.

    5. I think Hurpdurp meant to be over-exaggerating.
But yeah, the chance that somebody would end up in jail, is not really there.

beside, they wouldnt just sue a forum like odp, whe have no money, whe arent hosting files, and most people dont even know odp. So it would make a poor statement.

unless al qaida took over our domain name, your prob save......

    6. I never said downloading.

Also, the RIAA sued a poor middle age women for 1.9 million dollars for sharing 24 songs on Kazaa and won.

    7. Hurp was refering to a "ressurected" site that wasn't ran by the original owner and staff, but might be run by a Domme or something to pass viruses.

If you suddenly see a "New or Newly reborn" ODP without hearing it offically from here, suspect it is a fake designed to either do you harm legally, financially, or some other way.

Is the lesson we should all be learning from this comment :P

Agree with all the above tbh but thanks to DarkstarRidenow this is summarized nicely :)

    11. You obviously have no idea how copyright works..
And no domme is tech savvy enough for any of what you're suggesting.

    3. FFT is promising, but looks like they're just getting going with hyp files. Not much that I haven't seen elsewhere, and pretty much shit descriptions. That's a big reason to yearn for the ol' ODP. Good descriptions and discussion!

Its nice when you find things you weren't looking for.

But I miss odp aswell. plus, withoud odp, HurpDurp cant complain on 4chan, how hard his life as moderator is. :P

  15. Guys, I think I have the solution!
Ever head of "Retroshare"???It's a kind of Friend-to-Friend Darknet. See: http://retroshare.sourceforge.net/index.html

We could open a new comunity which is Forum independant. Hurp could act as a gatekeeper, based on the former VIP-Members. We could start the ODP-Retroshare comunity based on the VIPs E-Mail Addresses and grow again from there.

What do you think? Is it worth a try?
