Calm Down Dos

PhpBB has a major bug (that the developers won't recognize as an actual bug because they apparently cannot reproduce it) that causes the server MYSQL database to lock up from continuous requests to the database or something.

Anyway, there's nothing we can do about it. Brown has to contact his host and tell them to reboot the mysql database so it can get rid of locked up requests.

So... dunno how long that'll take.

  2. If you are in charge, why are you not registered with the host to request a reboot?
Would make life earier in the future´as long as Brown is away.

  3. Didn't you read my email HurpDurp? :P

It's not a phpBB bug at all.

I'm not going to go into all the boring technicalities, but it's an issue with the server ODP is hosted on having a partition full, and therefore there is no space for the database to be written to.

Either way, as HurpDurp said, there's nothing we can do about it we'll have to wait until Brown contacts the host.

  4. I was wondering why ODP had never experienced a DDOS before. Ordering a "slave" to do a DDOS seems like something a few "dommes" wouldn't be above doing especially "dommes" who have given out contact info of people before and told their "slaves" to "get them."

  5. I seriously doubt any dom even knows what DDOS stands for, let alone finding enough 'slaves' to do it.

  6. No, CN, it actually IS a bug in phpBB because it only happens with phpBB3, no other board.

Also, your email was talking about a different error message all together :[ Yours was about storage space being full, the new one is about too many connections.

@First anonymous: Cuz I don't have that clearance level yet. Also, I feel like that might be over stepping my bounds, not to mention the host might not like multiple IP addresses logging in.

@Second Anonymous: I'm surprised they even know how to turn on computers and record shitty recordings. So if they knew how to DDOS, I'd shit bricks.

  7. HurpDurp, the database has locked up due to continuous requests and not being able to access it - that would actually occur on any other forum in this situation too, it just likely wouldn't show the same message.

The problem has been caused because the database is unable to be written to due to the out of space issue (cPanel can't even take a backup of it now either).

Either way, Brown's just emailed back saying he's got in touch with the hosts... so with any luck we might be up and running again sometime soon.

  8. Looks like the host have sorted out half the disk space problem... but hey, it means that the site is up and running again :)

  9. Or not... it's just gone back up to 100% used and database errors are happening again :(

  10. And we really are back now... I've just repaired the database and the site is up & running again.
